Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends and Happy Yay Those Irritating Separatists Have Left Day to my English friends and if you're neither American nor English, Happy Thursday!

Now, onto the "fandom iz srs bizness" portion of this entry...

I have an idea for another fic. It's been done before, but I want to try it anyways. What can I say? I'm not original, but I am persistent. My idea, which started writing itself in my head last night while I was trying not to think of all the things that could go wrong with dinner today (I'm helping cook a turkey dinner with all the trimmings for over 30 soldiers...there were a lot of disasters to cover) was to do the old "What if Spike got a soul instead of Angel" plotline, complete with Spandery goodness, because I think if I tried to write Spuffy my head would implode.  So, my question to the six of you that read this journal on a regular basis is:

Should I wait until I finish MoS and Ashes, thus possibly losing the thread of this story and never actually writing it OR go ahead and write it, attempting to divide my creative brain between three stories and possibly screwing them all up?

Challenge yourself. I love this bunny. It has a lot of potential. Your other two stories are going good but when you run into a dead end on one move to another one. Or just write it out dont post it right away and finish up the one that is almost finished then start on this one. You will do fine. Happy Holidays.

Thanks, hon! I haven't told you lately, but I'm always so happy when you comment! You really are the best cheerleader I could have! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

Your quite welcome. And if you need a break from the stories you are writing I have posted a Christmas Challenge story in various communities and on my journal that you could have some fun with. It is geared as a one-shot that can be written as a PWP. Happy Holidays.

I always go for the more writing at once thing. Sometimes it's easier to focus on three tasks than just one!

i personally haven't read this from a spander POV. i'm intrigued...and i look at it this way; as long as their are WIPs...the fandom lives LOL

so i think you should do it

Really? I've read a few and truthfully, I didn't enjoy them. Mah huuuuuuge ego tells me to say I could do it better, but I try to ignore him. :P

Yay! I think I will just so I can stop thinking about it, LoL!

I'm a terrible judge since I barely have time to write anything at all and they're almost never WIPs (or else I'd never finish!), but if you have an idea humping your leg like a horny puppy, try to get as much down as possile. Even if it's an outline, a particular scene, some dialogue, etc. it's good to start writing because you will forget. I would suggest alternating on story lines, especially if you hit a rut on one.

I would hold your hand any time you wanted to try and write Spuffy =)

You know, that last line just sounds dirty...of course, I did spend my day with thirty infantry boys. Right now, everything sounds dirty... :P

I might write some Spuffy just for you...but honestly, I don't know if I can do it without turning it into a disaster fic. I just can't see Spike/Buffy going anywhere good...

I've writen a WIP so I can't really give you an advice on that. Do as the Muse tells you :)

But it's very very intriguing! I'd definitely read it!

Okay, I'm of two minds about this.

Part of me really really really wants you to finish MoS first. I love this story and I so don't want it left as a WIP.

But I also think the plot bunny is terrific - though I have to ask when you would have him get the soul back. Would it be around the same time Angel did, back around the turn of the century? Because Spike was practically still a fledge at that point. Or would it be later, once he actually had things to atone for?

If you think your brain can handle two fics at once (and if you can then you're a better person than me *g*), then I say go for it.

And one last question; as long as it's not Spuffy (yucky!!),if you do write it, can I beta it? *g*

Actually, my idea was that instead of the gypsies thing, to have the Chinese Slayer's mother curse him. It just sounded cool. One of the things I dislike about some of these re-writes is that they essentially take the Buffy/Angel story and insert Spike/Xander into it without changing anything! So, Xander gets Slayer lines that make no sense...and yes, I really have read that.

I don't normally use a beta, just because nobody I know has the time to read, con/crit and get back to me without it taking forevuh. And since nothing is ruder than having someone bug you when you offered to do them a favor, I generally just skip it. But, if you really want to and you have the time, I wouldn't mind it! :)

Oh honey, I so have the time! I spend most of my time online, both at home and work, so finding time to beta will not be a problem.

I completely agree with you about the rewrites; but keep in mind that the night Spike killed the Chinese slayer was the same night that Angel left the Scourge because he had the soul. Or at least I think that's the timeline; so he had only been a vampire for about 20 years at that point.

And here I am, trying to tell you how to write a fic you haven't even decided if you're gonna write yet. Just tell me to shut up, why don't you? *headdesk*

All I can do is give my own perspective, which in no way might match up with your own. If I had two or three things going at once, probably all of them would suffer. I *do* have to capture the idea though, in loose abstract form at the very least, and often with a very small vignette scene that for me gives the emotional essence of what I'm going for (it's all about the emotional response with me - of both the characters and the readers). Writing multiple things for me often results in them being diluted or starting to have the same emotional feeling to me, when they were not intended to be the same to start with (and how many of us have multiple works going that are intended to be the same - not too likely). Anyway, that's just me and you need to work with what works for you! Good luck with your decision - and I gotta say, in the 'yea, no spuffy camp' here Are you sure you don't want to do a nice toasty spangel? ;> Oh, ok, spander it is :>
