Note on the First Debate
Sep. 26th, 2008 09:38 pmPart 1:
Could someone page Sarah Palin? She needs to come reboot John McCain because he's stuck on the same three phrases:
"I'm not Miss Congeniality"
"I've fought to cut spending my whole life"
"Senator Obama wants to spend $800 billion on new programs"
He's already getting on my nerves and we're only one-half hour into the debate. I can't imagine 4 years of this CD skip.
Part 2:
Senator McCain, there is a difference between "Not Losing" and "Winning". As someone whose husband is currently deployed overseas and has a close-up view of the military situation in Iraq, I can say that right now? We're not losing the war. But that sure as hell ain't winning.
Part 3:
Few things here-
Pakistan is not our ally. Any country who says that they will shoot your soldiers rather than aid them against a supposed common enemy? Not an ally.
While I respect the sacrifices of the soldiers, sailor, Marines, and Airmen who fought in Vietnam, that war is actually over. Plz to be focused on the current wars, kthxbye.
Part 4:
Senator Obama has just won the debate on the "Godwin's" technicality. Senator McCain, let's remember that while Iran may be a great threat: they aren't the Nazis and comparing their actions to starting a "new Holocaust" is made of FAIL.
Part 5:
Am I the only one who's noticed that Senator McCain refuses to actually look at or speak directly to Senator Obama? Does anyone else think that's disrespectful?
Bonus: Learn to pronounce the names of world leaders. Repeatedly stumbling over the name of the leader of one of our greatest antagonists? Makes you look stupid.
Part 6:
Well I think this was a clear cut victory for Senator Obama if only because Senator McCain ended up being a talking head on spending instead of proposing real solutions.

I did a similar prompt request at my journal. Go leave one for me! I posted one fic already. Not sure when I will get to the rest what with comp coughing up blood. *whimper*
Also, thanks so much for your response to my email. I ended up contacting the mod at EF and am waiting to hear back from her.

on 2008-09-27 04:34 am (UTC)That's nothing; you should see the current gubernatorial debates going on up here in WA State right now. The two candidates absolutely despise each other. They won't even use each other's names in the debates! It's all, "the incumbent" this and, "my challenger" that. It's sad and kinda scary, frankly.
