WIP Meme

When you see this, post a little weensy excerpt from as many random works-in-progress as you can find lying around. Who knows? Maybe inspiration will burst forth and do something, um, inspiration-y.

The Hours

“We threw her out,” Dawn whispers. “Just…tossed her aside like she was garbage.”

Giles nods because she’s right. Here in the not quite light he can admit it. He betrayed Buffy. Not last night because last night is just a continuation of a steady series of betrayals that began when he killed a god within a man. He has failed as a Watcher.

Modes of Silence

How he mocked the boy, the Slayer’s puppy, before he started working with them. What did the Slayer need from a lad with more mouth than brains? Slayer was a hunter, a predator. She didn’t need adorable boys with delicious lips that could kiss you stupid.

Maybe she did and maybe she didn’t. Spike figured that Buffy had lasted because of her friends, but in the end, Slayers always stood alone. What he was slowly coming to understand was that he needed something more.

The New Baby

“You know,” Xander began, voice quivering. “Last I checked, Mommies and Daddies didn’t have sex with their kids.”

“But Xander,” Anya protested. “Spike isn’t our genetic offspring nor is he a biological child. Those are the two reasons that sex with one’s spawn is prohibited. Besides, he needs guidance in human lovemaking. Who better than his adopted parents to teach him about gentleness and intimacy in human sexuality?”

Splinters

Every time this happens, and that’s fairly often, he’s struck by something new about the body creeping towards him. This time it’s the sway of hips that mesmerizes him. Like a strange Morse code, they flash out messages of their own accord.

The mattress dips, and he slides over to make room. Skin whispers against fabric until he can feel it butting up his, silky smooth against the coarse hair that dapples his body. The smaller body fits snugly against his larger one, planes and angles colliding with something entirely different.

“Good night,” he asks lightly, fingers tracing a now familiar path.

“Yeah,” Faith answers, pensively. “Dusted a few vamps.”

Note: I did not put in excerpts from Ashes to Ashes or Improvising Atonement because I'm actively working on them. These are my WiPS that I haven't seen inspiration for in awhile. Although this meme may have served its purpose because I'm seriously remembering how much I liked these ideas.

I started that one and it sort of ran out of gas. I'm hoping that I'll get some new ideas, and get it going again because I really liked the original premise of it. Congrats on getting archived on Spanderfiles, btw! I remember how excited I was when I was first invited. :)

Thank you! It's kinda weird being archived on a site that most of my favorite fanfic authors are archived on!

I don't even have much written that's Spander either. The one archived there is one I helped [livejournal.com profile] spikess with.

I feel like I need to write more with Spander now...
