See, the thing is I've been doing this huge West Wing re-watch - mainly because I have a ton of West Wing and it's fun to watch and even funner to watch while working out because people look at you funny when they see it on your iPod while you're running - and I've been sucked in to Josh/Donna fic and a little Josh/Sam fic and I couldn't see the attraction until I realized that I just really enjoy neurotic sex.

I write Xander and Spike as borderline neurotic lovers, I write Angel as a closet neurotic, and the few times I've written Buffy, she's been stuck in a neurotic moment. Josh Lyman is the King of the Neurotics.

Y'all, I have taken my own personal tendency towards high-strung obsessive behavior AND FETISHIZED IT.

Also, life is kicking my ass and I miss writing.

I miss me, too. My brain is all filled with social work and people being stupid about privilege and Disney movies (which sounds contradictory, but it wasn't in the discussion where people were being STUPID OMG).

I'm working on pushing myself back to doing the ficlets at least. I'm not sure I can commit to more than a few hundred words in a go. The most recent ficlet took me over a week to process.

My friend Bob was always trying to get me into West Wing when it was and more so now he knows I can download. LOL Do you think it will translate well for an English viewer?

I think it might. I mean, it focuses somewhat on the American system, but it's such a character-driven show that a cursory knowledge of how the American system works would probably be enough to get you through. The show does enough exposition that you don't need to be a political expert to get the jokes - and the US and UK share enough in terms of frame of reference that it won't be flail-y for you.

However, the first 5 eps are awful. Especially the pilot. You need them to get the set-up, but go through the whole first season before you give up in despair. It really does get better - plus Josh Lyman is so fucking neurotically sexy that words fail me.
