The truth is out there, search the skies because this is the choice of a new generation: hands across America, We are the world and we just say no. The Reagan Revolution was born in the cabbage patch, hopes and dreams of a generation that slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God with their pillow friends and talking teddy bears.

You can have it your way, right away because it's a good time for a great taste. I learned it from watching you, you know - reach out and touch someone, bring good things to life. Relax, don't do it because you can leave the driving to us.

Clap on, clap off: this is your brain on drugs. Whatever it is I think I see becomes a tootsie roll to me. Greed is good, but where's the beef? More bikes, more trains, more video games: who could ask for anything more?

I haven't missed my meds and I only as crazy as I've ever been: no more, no less. This started writing itself in my head on the drive from Ohio and I needed to get it the hell out. Feel free to comment, con/crit, mock...yanno, the usual. :)

You have been watching and listening to too many jingles. The worst part is I remember all of them *shudders* Way too much T.V. in the eighties. 1980 B.C. (Before Computers). Love ya anyway.

I have indeed watched too much television, but what's even weirder is that those jingles represent a great deal of my generation's collective memory. I can recall almost flawlessly commercials from my childhood, but I don't remember the faces of people I went to school with.

The 80s was an impersonal time and it makes me wonder if that depersonalization had an affect on me, on us, the kids I grew up with and that grew up around me. If all we have are memories of T.V. shows, what does that say about us as a generation?

*sigh*

See why I get that stuff stuck in my head and why it needed to come out? It's catharsis in the form of an advertising lullaby.

I was in my 20's when a lot of those where aired. I never really had anyone to talk to in that time frame so T.V. became my outlet to my existance during that time. I still remember a lot uf ads from the 60's and 70's as well. I guess when the computer started invading the home it slowly replaced the T.V. If you where to ask me about ads on T.V. today I couldn't tell you. What little I do watch the ads are very forgettable. Hope you update your stories soon. Are you ever going to finish LTQ. I hope so.

That was great. It brought up memories of television images and jingles I hadn't thought about in years and jostled a few more loose.

Let's see...I know that I didn't get them all...but I recognized Burger King and McD's, AT&T, GE, the clapper, Toys 'r' Us, Rolaids, then of course the obvious: tootsie roll, beef, rice crispies, nestle's, and the 'just say no' campaign...

Yeah, so I watched too much TV when I was a kid. I had cartoons taped on a VHS that I watched over and over and over, so I have like 10 years of McDonald's commercials like, MEMORIZED.

I think the first para was mostly a mystery, though.

Actually this made me laugh at myself because I remember all of them! And yes I do wonder what this says about our generation.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm not sure that it qualifies as much more than a bit of mental flotsam with a tish bit of jetsam thrown in, but at least it was entertaining! :)

We are for reals incredibly weird and OMG! I didn't notice that! I even went through the list of winners because I thought I had been nominated and I totally didn't see my name.

I think I've been so down lately that I didn't expect something good to happen. Thank you, sweetie! This totally lifted my mood. :)
