Although that last part usually gets me asked why I don't just vote conservative DemocratBecause there is no such thing? Conservative Democrats are called Libertarians and they don't have their own party yet.
But, seriously? There's a big difference between a liberal Republican and a conservative Democrat. Liberal and conservative are schools of political thought while Democrat and Republican are specific political parties. As you know, conservative is not interchangeable with Republican, but that doesn't mean a conservative Dem and liberal GOP will agree on very much.
I just want my old GOP back. You remember it? The one where we didn't blow taxpayers money like LBJ on a Great Society binge and the government stayed the hell away from private citizens prerogatives? President Bush said once that he was a "big government conservative" and I lost my mind. A big government conservative is what you call a Democrat when the children are present and you can't use more colorful terms for them.
Whew. I'm getting on a rant here and that's just not going to go anywhere happy. Point: Rush Limbaugh and the other crazies need their own party. We must work on this. Possibly with gay bombs (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/4174519.stm), which I'm told the U.S. government is working on. We could make them all gay...when RPS writers attack!
