Random Unqualified Statements
May. 3rd, 2008 12:25 am1.) I'm not a vegetarian. Not because I have no respect for life. On the contrary, I have great respect for the plants and animals that become my food. I just don't understand how vegetarianism is better. You're still eating a living thing...which is evidenced by the fact that Alton Brown just made me feel sorry for my salad. He said that even after being picked, lettuces continue to breathe. Now I'm picturing my lettuce as mortally wounded and struggling to cling to life. Somehow that's sadder than abattoir pictures...
2.) I'm still not voting for Barack Obama but even as a Republican? I'm not holding him responsible for someone else's words. Can we all agree to let Jeremiah Wright take responsibility for Jeremiah Wright and leave Senator Obama out of it? Please? If for no other reason than we're all seriously over this primary already? Jeebus, the writer's strike was not only shorter and more interesting but actually affected the lives of everyday Americans.
3.) Somewhere in that last statement? I find a sad indictment of either my nation, the Democratic party, or both. And I'm still feeling some sympathy for my lettuce. I think this is what happens when I write Spike and Buffy...
