I really like this too. This would've been a really interesting way to go instead of Spike being chipped.
I've been mulling over writing a fic forever that has Darla not sticking around to help out Wolfram & Hart after they bring her back, and not going to Angel for help either. Human or not, newly returned or not, Darla didn't seem the type inclined to do anything she didn't want to - hence my assumption she'd skip town as soon as she could.
Then I just kept thinking that she'd go to Spike before she'd turn to Angel for help. After all, at that point her last memory of Angel HAD to be of him plunging a stake into her heart over Buffy - a human and a Slayer to boot. And she and Spike may not have always seen eye to eye but at least there's no canon evidence that he ever betrayed her at that level. Plus I kept thinking that Darla would be considering the fact that at least Spike is the type of guy that's loyal to his girl.
