Wow: And you thought I really wasn't here

So, the reports of my death have been only mildly exaggerated. Seriously. There was a stomach flu followed by a hand surgery followed by the latest which is a very painful sunburn. I demand justice for my grievances or at least an injury-free month.



I'm back to writing though. After what happened with my son, I was really not in any place to be creative. That seems to be slowly filtering back. I'm working on a continuation (still pre-slash) of that comics Spike and Xander piece I posted a while back, using a CoSoRanOb prompt by Laazi (who is DEFINITELY a long tall glass of grapefruit juice as far as I'm concerned).

AND AND AND: I'm working on a remix for remixredux09. Very very excited about this, even though I'm going to need a beta. Which reminds me, does anyone want to beta a fic of as yet undetermined words and undisclosed pairing? It is set in the comics canon, though slightly AU-ish, so some comics knowledge would be nice though not necessary. My posting deadline is July 19th and I'm not sure how far in advance I'll be shipping this out (I'm working on it now. I just don't know how long it's going to be. The original fic is fairly long, but I doubt I'll be matching it for length). Don't all get excited and volunteer at once...:P

Speaking of excitement: I'm really excited about the comics. I know not all of fandom considers them canon, but I do and I'm loving having new material to work with. Fandom was starting to get discouraging, for me, because how many times can we all dissect the same scenes (okay, ad infinitum, but still)? I want comics icons, I want to make comics fanart (I've found a few scan sites, but not many and I don't feel confident enough to make my own scans yet), I'm writing comics fic and I want to read comic-based fics. SIGH-now how to get everyone else as excited as I am?

A quick note for anyone who's been paying even less attention than I am: kink_bingo has restarted, but they're over on dreamwidth now. From what I can see, you can still get a card even if you're not based on DW. I am continuing the kink_bingo posting at FmK (which I should probably post about at some point) and I have my own card, so expect a new round of kinky fic in the slightly distant future.

Also, I've won a few awards and been nominated for a few others while I've been recuperating from my months-long spate of sickness and I want to take a second and thank everyone involved in that. Thank you to the thoughtful people who take time to read my work and enjoy it so much they nominate it for awards. Thank you thank you thank you to the judges who spend their limited free time reading fic they may or may not enjoy (I know I haven't always enjoyed fic I've read as a judge) and a special thanks to the artists for the lovely awards they create. So even though I haven't acknowledged it here, I am always excited when I'm nommed and extra-excited when I win.

Now, how about catching me up on the fun stuff (or maybe not fun stuff) I missed while I was off being boringly sick? I've missed you guys!

It's good to see you again! I'm also very happy to hear that the string of bad-health problems might be drawing to a close. Things like that, piled one on top of the other, always end up being more detrimental than the sum of their parts. You take care of yourself!

OMG. Seriously, I've had so much health drama. My foot was all messed up and then my hand and stomach flu and this sunburn and ugh. Add in my thyroid and I end up have the medication regimen (and appointment schedule) of an 80 year old.
