Nobody's tying anyone down and force-reading the stories to them, that I've heard about.
I don't read a story if it's a squicky subject. Doesn't mean I stop reading that author, just avoid my own personal squick topics, that's the beauty of warnings.
Sometimes, when it's by a favourite author, I'll even try to overcome the squick, and I've been pleasantly surprised a few times to find I really enjoyed the odd pairing/activity etc. But if I find I don't like it, then I just quietly stop reading.
It's not the author's fault I ignored the warnings, I'm free to find other stories that I know I'll enjoy. Plus it's fantasy In RL I would run a mile at some of the situations that I enjoy reading about. Doesn't mean I'm not going to enjoy the fantasy.
