i usually shy away from human au as well, but i can never resist incasink's stories. she always portrays angel in a very interesting way - strong and protective like in canon, but always with a vulnerability and uncertainty to him that i think exists in canon as well but is often overshadowed by his fervent desire to appear in control of every situation. she takes the control away and tends to expose the vulnerability... and then of course brings in big tough spike to take care of him. ;) also, the writing's pretty good and very sensory, which i like. she's pretty much the only au writer i ever read. unless you count btvslover82's "wayward boys" fic, which is angel tripletcest and absolutely impossible to resist if you're an angel perv like me. :)
