LoL...I got that a lot for this pairing. I think it makes quite a bit of sense. Anya was definitely a magic-user and unlike Willow not prone to abuse it. Plus, the heterosexual thing after a thousand years of being the punisher of evil men? I'm not getting it. So, for me, it fit. Now, would I write it as a main pairing? Probably not. That would require way more mad skillz than I possess... :)
